>>5953But who says the characters were changed to appease anyone? You're working on a false/unconfirmed assumption and that's why what you're saying doesn't hold up outside of 'I don't want these opinions and changes to happen because I don't like them and that's it'. Where are the interviews saying they changed the characters to appease ANYONE?
The industry has opened up to allow a LOT more people to be in charge of these projects and its just natural that they're going to make designs that they like and probably reflect them; it's just a fucking fact that there are more people of color and women in animation now, and in all places of power than in the 80s, and I refuse to believe anyone is so attached to the shitty cartoon original of She-Ra that their designs changing from barbie brunette to blonde is so heart breaking for ANYONE. Its not the creators or the show that say a character is perfect based on their design (most of the time); its FANS.
And even Sherlock BBC, one of the most boring shows to grace anyone is considered PC just off the fucking fan base, when it never has been.
People will literally always put characters that they relate to on a pedestal. Yeah, it can be super fucking annoying, but that's life. It's not ruining lives or making people think "wow maybe fat women ARE better than me just for existing". People who believe they're better just for existing are just narcissists and they're everywhere.
There's nothing wrong with designs changing, anon. Even though I hate the newest TMNT incarnation and its designs, I can't bring myself to say it's WRONG, just because I don't want it.
The character this whole post is about gets like 5 seconds of air time and when I saw this post, I had to seriously think who tf she was. She's just some random background character. And she shills zero PC Master Race messages.
Also Sesame Street has staunchly refused to say Bert and Ernie are gay; officially they are not. The writer who came up with them says that was his intent from the beginning, because he modeled them from himself and his partner. From the 10000 jokes and innuendos about it said since before I was born, I think his intent has always been picked up by people. They didn't suddenly become gay because the PC crowd demanded it in 2018. It was always the intent but the writer didn't become as public with it until more recently.
Things are just more easily sensationalized, put on a pedestal, and shilled nowadays, so yeah people will try to pull a JK Rowling and try to get those pathetic DUMBLEDORE WAS GAY ALL ALONG points, but not every gay lad in media is a case of that.
