Thread Hiding Anonymous 07/03/2018 (Tue) 23:11:26 No. 16 [Reply]
When thread hiding was first introduced, I was all like, "great, now I can go to /bbwalt/ and see the fetishes that arouse me while easily skipping the ones that disgust me, or hide chubby threads on /bbw/ since I'm a supersize-or-go-home man", but shortly thereafter I realized that hiding threads is *completely useless*.

Why? Because the thread will be unhidden the very next time you visit. I don't even use private browsing mode to come here, and I come here at least every few days. It still forgets whatever threads I've hidden.

Please, whoever is going to run this place from now on, can you try to fix things so that hidden threads stay hidden? This has to be something that can be put in the cookie, right?
Is this fixed with lynxchan?

Yep, press the circle X button.

Critique and Feedback thread Anonymous 02/07/2018 (Wed) 16:43:09 No. 19 [Reply]
Mods I'm sure people would be more inclined to donate something if you listened to your community a little more. From what I've seen in previous threads on /booty, anyone saying something remotely negative is essentially playing with dice as to whether or not they will be banned, regardless of whether it is an opinion or not.

Also some added transparency would be nice, like why are some threads bumplocked and others aren't? And what happened to the AKU thread? Personally I think each board would benefit from some kind of meta thread, but that's up to you I suppose. I'm not even sure how you will take this honest bit of critique, but I hope that you will at least read it and see if you find something you agree with instead of just dismissing it solely on the grounds that it is a critique. It's purpose is to help, not to defame, or attack. I sincerely hope you take this critique, and the critique of others into consideration, as I expect you cannot hope to have the respect and money of the people whom you seldom listen to and respect, if that is indeed the case anyway.

I hope that other's can also express their opinions within this thread, and also discuss their personal opinions and beliefs upon how the site is run themselves, and under what conditions they would consider donating.

If nothing else, you could see who would be interested in advertising on this site, similar to other image boards which are not donation run.

I'm very unhappy with the moderation for a number of reasons that I can't put to appropriate words right now due to being sleepy af.

In short though:
>Stop using the "this isn't 4chan" excuse and own up to the way that people tend to behave here, rather than trying to suppress it, because this is an imageboard, and the majority of the community is from 4chan/8chan, and always has been. If you wanted a reddit hugbox, you could've just as easily remade the site as a subreddit and had that kind of community. None of this is to say that people should be irredeemable pricks at all times, but you seem to have unrealistic expectations of the community here, and you need to rein those in and accept the reality.

>Stop enabling people acting like turbocunts on either side of an argument. That means not favoring literal autistic manchildren like TheDarkMaster, or the anons overreacting to his posts or insulting him, either; they're both contributing to derailing threads, so fucking ban them both and let them sit on the sidelines until they learn to behave. Use ban messages and make this crystal clear when you do it.

>Stop with the aggressive enforcement of "if you don't like it, hide it." Everyone knows to hide threads they're not interested in, but expecting people to hide every post, every image, and every thread they dislike is completely unrealistic. Someone's going to complain, especially if shitposters are bombarding threads with low quality trash or frequently posting new threads rather than bumping their old ones

>Don't clog up the front page of a board with multiple stickies. Compile them all into one sticky, or a sticky with 1-2 replies so that they're all fully visible.

I probably have a lot more shit to complain about, but those are the big things that immediately come to mind. I'm really not looking for an argument here, or a rebuttal in the form of "UM, NO SWEETIE, WE KNOW BEST," but as a former moderator from old bbw-chan I thought my two cents might be worth something. I only really post on or pay attention to /bbwalt/ and /bbwdraw/ though, to be fair.
Is there a reason why you can't post the same pic in other threads? I feel like there's no need for such restriction.
>>447
Because no one wants to see the same pic all over the place.
Any chance of going back to unix filenames? Hashes drive my shit up the wall.
>>472
Nope, sorry, that's just baked into lynxchan.

To be honest, as long as people don't start asking for new stuff when there isn't, wouldn't it be alright to leave them up?
I hope someone saved the pic of "her" in the porn "she" did.

Wait what porn?

Yea, what porn

Could we get a mod message on the boards telling people to stop using files.fm please? The site no longer works, links go down within minutes, and all it's doing is wasting the uploader's time and filling the threads with re-upload begging.
Maybe it could still be salvaged.

If some anti-piracy company is using a bot to find and report the links, you could always play cat and mouse games with IP bans until they give up, or try some kind of link obfuscation and hope they're too lazy to write a better bot.

The other possibility is that files.fm have had so many takedown requests related to this site that they've just started auto-deleting any upload that gets linked here. This is easy to test for by just uploading something, fetching it with a spoofed referrer as if you came from here, and then seeing if it gets deleted. That would be easy to fix by just setting noreferrer on all external links.
Remove the "https://" or "www" part when you're linking something from there so it's not a hyperlink.

There needs to be people who actually reads appeals and or give strikes instead of instant bans. I used this site for 2wo years and I accidentally posted about a cat girl gaining weight on a bbwdraw board because I usually go straight to the manga weight gain thread and never read what the first post is about (which is a picture saying don't post a woman/man that is at a certain level of furry that I went back and read after searching frantically for why I got banned) and yeah i'm not even a furry nor did I do it on purpose like a troll but nope a 3 day ban without even reading my appeal or thinking about it. Not to call people out and I know myself how bad some people/trolls can be but yeah just needs to be a better ban system or some sort of leniency system or something. Worse part is another guy responded to me trying to find the manga not knowing the rule like I did and got his comment deleted too so I know for sure his poor soul got banned too in the crossfire which makes me feel bad.

>There needs to be people who actually reads appeals and or give strikes instead of instant bans.
Bans are the strikes. They're temporary [Excluding spam, CP and extreme behavior] and are warning s that are more effective at getting attention than a reply users may never see. For the record, I did see your appeal and lifted the ban when I saw it. Lately we've been stretched thin on moderation, and so there's backlogs of reports waiting for us when we log on. (Keep reporting though, anons! Thank you, we appreciate it.) So I may not spend as much time on every individual post as needs be, but I do read and try to get some context of the post.
>I used this site for 2wo years and I accidentally posted about a cat girl gaining weight on a bbwdraw board because I usually go straight to the manga weight gain thread and never read what the first post is about (which is a picture saying don't post a woman/man that is at a certain level of furry that I went back and read after searching frantically for why I got banned)
Bans give reasoning in the notice. I thought the sticky at the the top of the board was pretty self-explaining, but I updated the picture anyways. Honestly it just sounds like you could read more.
>and yeah i'm not even a furry nor did I do it on purpose like a troll
I didn't think it was deliberate, and we try to match the length of the ban to the intent and the severity. 3 days is one of the lighter bans.
>but nope a 3 day ban without even reading my appeal or thinking about it. Not to call people out and I know myself how bad some people/trolls can be but yeah just needs to be a better ban system or some sort of leniency system or something.
Again, I did remove the ban. Just pay closer attention to what you're doing next time.
>Worse part is another guy responded to me trying to find the manga not knowing the rule like I did and got his comment deleted too so I know for sure his poor soul got banned too in the crossfire which makes me feel bad.
Deleting doesn't require a ban. If I did ban, they didn't get any worse than you did, and they had just as much opportunity to read the rules as you did. People make mistakes, we know that, just relax and it sounds like it won't be an issue any more.
Yeah I know I won't make the mistake twice lol. I bet it is pretty hectic if you don't have that many people helping out and also it must of been in a late time when you removed the ban but thank you anyways. Idk I was thinking maybe there could be a thing where a message shows up saying you got reported before a ban but I can see that being a pain to program idk, the 3 strikes using bans is probably the best way to handle it anyways. Thanks for reading and replying though.

Is she off limits? I'm totally missing something. All the threads I've either seen or made about her have been within the rules, but are quickly deleted. Not looking for a ban hete by posting another one, just wondering what the boundaries are and why with her.

The only reason the one not made by you was deleted was because it was a request thread. Then I screwed up by clicking the button to delete all of your posts rather than the one for only your thread you made in /gen/ sorry about that.

TheDarkMaster Anonymous 02/24/2018 (Sat) 15:37:56 No. 36 [Reply]
Please ban this guy. He's a namefag, he knows nothing of imageboard culture or etiquette, he constantly samefags threads by removing his name, oblivious to the fact that his ID is visible, and, most importantly of all, he posts garbage content constantly (posting and requesting low quality art of Minecraft, Lego, and Bionicle shit) and derails threads on /bbwdraw/ on a daily basis as a result. Every time he does this, I report it, rather than taking the bait, but apparently nobody else can simply do the same, and whatever mods look at /bbwdraw/ have no understanding of that board, so it's just derailed threads, one after another, and he's never banned for it. None of this is even mentioning the way that he constantly, aggressively white knights absolutely everything and everyone to the detriment of countless threads, or takes his complaints and bitching from one thread to another, where it has nothing to do with the thread, and simply causes it to derail as people call him out on this.

It's incredibly clear that he's underage, physically or mentally, and that he shouldn't be here, or should at least be forced to lurk more until he's ready to post. If necessary, I can point you to at least three threads he's derailed or shitposted into oblivion in just the past few days. This is some serious horseshit and I'm tired of it. There's a lot of things wrong with bbw-chan, and especially /bbwdraw/, but good fucking gravy, how long does it take to get rid of someone who does nothing but shit threads up, contributing nothing of value wherever he goes.

Mew was caught ban evading multiple times along with Debulover and beyond those two I can't think of anyone who has been permabanned recently.
>>445
The mods have evidently did a good enough job banning their proxies that most users think they never came back.
>>451
Nah, users just don't pay attention, take for instance the recent posts in /elite/s "Depraved" stories thread >>>/elite/2695

Blatant Mewmew.

I'd like to see a dedicated janitor for each of the major boards (bbw, bbwdraw, booty, and tits). Who out there has the passion, the drive, to delete link spam? To sandbag the trolls? To always keep us on topic of celebrating BBW in all it's forms!
I'd also like to see another janitor or two specifically for the array's new thread. Clearing old requests as they fill, etc.
Who among you can serve the machine spirit as it integrates into the board?
I used to do this. Back on the old chan I cleaned up a lot of cp. If given the power again, I'd monitor bbw if needed. I loosely check tits and booty, but mainly bbw.

Sandbagging and you LtBarclay 04/06/2018 (Fri) 22:55:13 No. 50 [Reply]
This sticky will stay up until the 1st and then be moved to feedback for reference.
Sandbagging. It's a credo, it's a state a mind, it's a form of passive resistance. It's what we should all strive for, at all times.
See abusive posts? Racism? Shitposting? Got triggered? Sandbag it.
Don't fall for bait. Don't feed trolls. Cultural shift takes time. Remember when Jess left? The same thing happened.
People testing their limits. Fishing for reactions. Some so blatently obvious it's absurd, but the weak-willed or bored amoung us reply anyway.
It's not worth your time to react to shitposting, and it's not worth anyone else's to read it.
A typical thread only needs 5 replies before the oldest reply is hidden until expanded.
It would only take 5 on-topic sandbag posts to get a shitted-up thread back in a healthy state without mod intervention.
Sandbag them. No validation. No tagging their posts. Mercilessly ignore those desperate for drama and reactionary replies.
Mods are currently (at their discretion) deleting clear trolling/shitposting as a violation of rule #1 - keep content coherent to the categories.
The content boards are for content: not for dick-waving. Take that shit to /penis/.
As people learn to react less and less to shit-posting, shit-posting gets less and less amusing for those who choose to do it.
Remember how bbw-chan used to be? The emperor remembers. We had such a VAST amount of quality anons, trolls just simply couldn't get a foothold around all the top-tier discussion and content.
Let's get back there. Let's reclaim what was ours. Having rules is great, but having the collective will to fiercely stay on-topic is better.

This isn't real life. It's a fetish image board, the only true enemy of which is derailment.
