Suggestions Anonymous 12/10/2016 (Sat) 16:29:04 No. 74
Hey, how about a thread for quick suggestions. Mainly on how to better things from the previous bbw-chan. I'll go first: Working ability to hide threads!
Can we make the "Flood detected, post discarded" thing less strict on people who are just dumping images?

Also you can't post JUST images anymore, leaving the comment blank gives you an error.
today i'm happy already about the new site.

some future improvements i'd like to see:
* webm upload (nice to have, not a requirement)
* automatic cp ad killer (i.e. php ocr based)
* +1 ability to hide threads
* +1 more tolerant flood detection
Can we allow fat male pictures in /bbwalt/?

Since BHM was removed theres no place for mutual/just male gains anymore.
>>9
That was an oversight, it's been corrected
>>7
try it now, let me know if that's any better
>>8
not admin here just want to offer some help to the admin

i know how to add webms
someone made a script to stop them
i know how to add hide thread buttons
a simple change the flood detection times should fix that
>>12
forgot to say to the admin if you want me to help just say so and tell me where i can talk to you
>>10
Wait why is /futa/ and /penis/ back?
Didn't the admin say those were for a reason?

Also trying to access the catalog on /bhm/ gives a 404.
>>11
Still getting it in this thread: http://www.bbw-chan.nl/bbwalt/res/1.html

I'm just trying to dump a couple more images, but gosh dang I don't want to have to put different text in every single post.
>>6

- Add webm support
- Add the ability to hide threads
- Add the ability to see replies in a popup by hovering over the reply

- Make flood detection less strict

- Faster response on reporting/deleting CP ads

- Make it against the rules to bump threads that aren't in danger of being pruned (e.g. Bumping something that is literally at the top of page 2)

- Make it against the rules to beg for content, re-uploads or translations

- Make it against the rules to beg for source when the source is right in the watermark of an image, the filename of an image or the subject/OP of the thread
We will be working on all these suggestions, ad networks, configs, etc. We're essentially in beta, so please bear with us, as the mods have never had access to the backend before, and while I'm clever I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to webhosting.

I am currently in IRC if anyone with knowledge wants to help address some of these concerns.
Flood detection has been loosened from 20 seconds to 8 seconds. Let me know if that's good enough or we need to go lower.
>>21
what is the irc channel called and what network is it on?
I'll just add a request for expanding images inline.

also, double on the whole "reply pop out when you hover over the reply number" thing
>>7
>Also you can't post JUST images anymore, leaving the comment blank gives you an error.
This appears to still be true, and is a big problem because I want to kick-start some threads with dumps.
Big problem: there's no navigation headers or footers. If I open a new tab so that I don't have the navigation pane on the left, I can't move between boards. (And it's not just a problem for people like me who open a bajillion tabs side-by-side; opening in a new tab also appears to be the only way to get a page's URL to display.)

Small problem: You're not told when the text field is too long until you try to submit. On 4chan (a lot of my suggestions are going to sound like "waaah 4chan does it better", sorry in advance), a character counter pops up at the bottom as soon as your post gets too long, showing how far you have to delete. Right now you just have to guess and go back and forth to the submission page. (This is mostly an issue for /elite/, but I ran into it copying a story alongside a dump to avoid the previously-mentioned blank comment error.)

Would-be-nice improvements: hover preview on quotes, so for example if you hover over >>6 the OP will pop up temporarily (like 4chan); "quoted by" list under post header, so you can see which comments responded, also with preview (also like 4chan); autoupdater (guess where I got that idea?); and the filesize limit seems like it could be way bigger (it's like less than 2 mb? Totally UNLIKE 4chan since we're gonna have much less traffic.)
Here's a minor suggestion for the long run:
Can you make the New Reply button not take you out of the thread?
(45.18 KB 370x247 opera_2016-12-11_01-38-55.png)
Can we fix this weird word wrapping?
Oddly enough the previous bbw-chan used to not do this.
Flood detection was lowered to 8 seconds, are we good there?

You should be able to post images without a comment now. Please confirm.

Hiding threads should now be enabled.

Header and footer links are now enabled.

Not sure I want to enable auto-update since we have limited bandwidth.

Reply-hover should now be enabled.

In-line image expanding is now enabled.

Catalogs should be fixed.

Quick reply is enabled, but it's kind of weird, it pops up a little draggable reply box but it still pops you to the top of the thread so… idk.

Again, because of limited bandwidth, for now I'm keeping the image size at 2mb. We may increase this in the future, but your average run of the mill jpg shouldn't be larger than that 95% of the time.

We will have to wait on webm/oekaki integration until we get a VPS.

>Previous owner never added the hide thread button in almost a year
>These guys add it in less than a day.

You can use noko in the email field, surprisingly that still works.

>>36

"always noko" is now enabled.
>33
>Not sure I want to enable auto-update since we have limited bandwidth.
None of the boards even have anywhere near the kind of traffic to warrant such an reasonable addition and I'm speaking about the numbers before the move.
>>19
Bro that's a bit unfair. Sometimes p people miss a dump and just need that rep. Is it that much of an annoyance to skip past a thread?
Can we add a rule against Loli/Shota threads?
I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones attracting CP spammers in the first place.
>>43
While its not my thing, I feel drawn loli/shota stuff is ultimately harmless, along side any of the other stuff that would be allowed in alt.

The CP spammers affected man of the sites I visited and non of them had loli stuff. Spammers don't care about the content of a site they hit, they just hit it.
(a site dedicated to fat women isn't exactly going to get them much traffic for their child porn)

If you've ever been in the back end of a website you'd be surprised the stupid shit spammers will try.

(right now I'm getting malicious urls and ad strings coming in under the "languages" section of my analytic. "Use search x instead of y, ad etc" is certainly not a language to go along side english and german)
(76.57 KB 1024x768 rin_aoki_sb_wallpaper.JPG)
>>40

On second thought, it is kind of unfair so I'll amend that rule suggestion:

- If one person has already asked for a re-up, it should be against the rules for anyone else to ask for a re-up. In addition, asking for a re-up of stuff that is already on the FOD Array, on StufferDB or on AnonGTS should also be against the rules.
>>47

I think the main issue with people not checking the array first, is that most of the time (95%), when someone posts content, they don't post a file list, so they can only vaguely guess what was posted, and end up just asking for a reup instead. Or they're just lazy.
>>43
Loli/shota had nothing to do with the spam, and that spam existed on many other smaller chans that have strict anti-loli and shota rules.

You thew a hissyfit on the last bbwchan about this, don't do it here. At least here you can actually hide those threads if you don't like them.

each time i find a typo in my posting or i forgot to attach a file, and i want to replace the posting with a corrected one, i get punished by this huge delay.
(4.88 KB 583x202 imnotarobot.png)
more often than not the system thinks i'm a robot and won't let me post. then after some attempts, the same message suddenly can be posted.
maybe im going crazy.
>>54
Strangely enough this happens to me too. I'm not sure what's triggering it though. I will look into it. I did lower the delete timer to 30 seconds though.
>>54
This error happened to me too when I haven't even posted in over a day.
>>55
thanks a lot.
the 30 secs helped already with my latest posts on /bbw/ . sometimes i'm too much of a perfectionist, who can't get it right with the first shot… constantly deleting and rewriting. :-)

>>56
interesting. weird stuff there.
>>58
Just a guess here, but do you think it might be because we are still using both boards? Maybe it is detecting cookies / hashes from one and assuming we are spamming both? Idk…time for some googling.
>>60
cookies and temporary data in the cache should be site-specific, i'd say. but maybe there still is a strange connection between the old and the new site.
this could be tested by using a different browser for each site.

on the other hand, the problem is not significant enough for a huge research expedition. don't let this bother you too much.
i'm going to take a nap now - maybe i'll have some idea in my dreams (happens). :-)
>>64

I don't believe there's any reason to have the email field on a site like this. I enabled always noko, so people who were using the field for that won't miss it.
>>65
if i understand correctly, there's no longer a sage function, too. every silly little remark on a thread will catapult the thread to the front page…
and email addresses will have to be written in plain view.

mkay. :-)
Hmmm. Ok. I'll add it back tonight then.
>>47
I don't think anyone should be punished for asking for things here. That's what the site is about. If it's already been posted elsewhere, just kindly redirect them.

I do think people should post a brief description of what's in their links though. Even a single picture/screenshot posted with the link would be very helpful. Mab links posted with no picture or anything get annoying sometimes.
why did you guys try removing bhm?

it was clear that people still posed in there, and last time i checked a significant proportion of people here are male.
>>74
In my naivety I thought perhaps since the site is called bbw-chan, someone might think about bringing up a sub-chan for all the stuff that didn't fit into the bbw "theme". I was then informed that, no, that's not how this shit works: we're focused on bbw but there are multiple subcultures that bleed off from that theme that still identify with it, even if they are very much different. And so they returned, and there was balance in the universe again. I'm sorry I attempted to upset that balance. When someone is handed power for the first time, some of their first decisions aren't based off experience, but intuition, and in this case, mine failed me. Apologies.
>>75

it's cool.

it's just that most people who appreciate larger men typically don't utilize places like chans. there is very little for those of us who wish to discuss, post, or otherwise be involved in the fetish to go.

thanks for admitting that you were mistaken, your work is appreciated.
>>53
it was fixed for a while, but now the huge delay is back. i'm sure there's a reason, so i'll shut up and think about it. :-)
>>91
Oversight after the software upgrade. It's back to 30 seconds you eagle-eye you.
>>93
eagle-eye, hehe!
no problem; glad you could set the value back. thanks!
All the threads I had hidden just un-hid themselves for some reason.
>>102
That was either a side effect of turning on SSL, or rebuilding the site with the new coinurl redirects. Sorry about that. shouldn't happen again until we do the next major re-configure.
>>6
I want to make a thread to talk about our muscle fetish like we had in the original boards. Should I place it in the muscle area or another one like feeback, General Discussion or Everything Else?
(433.47 KB 1894x1002 BBWchan muscle.jpg)
>>104
>>6
This one, remember?
>>105
>>104
I'd use /gen/
>>134
Thanks.
>>134
i'd use /mu/ :P
>>137
>>134
I have yet to place it, to whom should I listen?
Can we get that thing when someone replys to a post the replier's post number shows up on op's post? It'll make the "Who is this" treads easier to figure out who is replying to who
>>140
I already made the thread at /mu/
>>140
Like this?
>>142
beautiful! :-) tx
testing watch thread function
test for more funsies
I know you now have a hide thread and hide image button (THANK YOU!!!), would it be possible to have a hide/block user option?
The new site is awesome, and I certainly don't mind clicking through an adlink to support it, but would there be an option to have it open in the same tab? Endless new tabs popping up annoys the hell out of me, to the point where I'm tempted to just start copying the link. I feel like it probably affects others the same way (and general web research tends to support this), and a same-tab link could only improve the possibility of people supporting the site this way.

>>150
maybe there's a helper extension
>>151
Maybe. I've tried extensions like that before, and they don't always work. Worth a shot, though.
>>149
i don't know if this would be possible with how frequently IPs change around here.

>>150
>>152
i've used the "Death To _blank" extension in chrome for years and haven't had a problem with it. it works for me on this site too.
>>150
I had no idea this was a concern. For me personally, I want things to open in new tabs as I'm scouring the site for content to archive to the array. I think one of those extensions is the best way to go…

Can we stop drawn threads on alternative? There's no difference between Drawn and Alt.

Alt should be for things like Femdom, Farts, "Sitting on toilets", Safe for work threads etc.
>>155
¿porque no los dos?
There's too many boards.

You should have:
gen, bbw, bbwalt, bbwdraw, bhm, elite, ee

contact, feedback, general should be one board called gen.
booty should go in bbw.
futa should go in bbwalt.
inf should go in bbwalt or bhm.
li should go in ee.
manip should go in bbw, bbwalt, or bhm.
mu should go in ee.
oe should go in bbw or bbwalt.
pe should go in bhm.
preg should go in ee.
tits should go in bbw.
trans should go in bbwalt.
>>157
The idea here is that the minor boards get virtually no traffic, so their threads get totally ignored.

Add a containment board for request threads.

They do nothing but shit up /bbwdraw/ and /bbwalt/ with a hundred autists all screaming for a mediocre artist to draw some obscure character, and most of the time it yields only one or two (usually bad) drawings, if that, before the artist fucks off without a word.
i feel like the draw request threads in BBWdrawn are kinda getting disorganized and out of hand. theres so much confusion, especially when there's one thread dedicated to an artist, and another joins in. i feel like BBWalt and BBWdrawn should have ONE draw request thread each, and all the lurking artists can just pick the requests they want to do in said thread. Basically similar to other drawthreads on 4chan, where instead of multiple request threads, it can stick to just ONE place, that way it's more organized, and artists dont have to feel like their stealing the show from other artists by taking a request not meant for them; and overall avoiding confusion.
i feel like this would be a great rule to add overall. i hope you consider my idea
>>165

Oh i just posted this >>168
and didnt see that someone else posted this haha. Thank you for also suggesting this. Glad im not the only one who gets annoyed by that
>>165

A containment board or at least thread would be very welcome. It's always the same shit; some wildly obscure anime character and someone begging for a fat of she. It's just pointless clutter.
>>176

I think a single drawthread for each board would be a brilliant idea because there would only be one of them and multiple artists can come in and out and do requests as they wish.

I also think the threads themselves would last a pretty long time. It's just overall convenient.

Just a suggestion, but I think it would be so much more easier for everyone involved if there was a single thread for Drawn and Alt board.

Once a thread caps we can just start it up again, Drawthread Pt. 2, ect.

Mods please consider my idea! It's a hassle scrolling through multiple request threads.
how about a "does anybody remember? thread/board? like you know what goes on in a clip/comic but know nothing else.

examples:
A long time ago I found a hentai manga of tall busty dominant softball players who used their smaller male manager for sex, one time even smuggling him in their luggage at a retreat.

A liveaction video of two bbw women at a bar arguing over a man, and purposefully getting fatter while at the bar.

A commercial where a thin woman in leather removes straps from her outfit and her fat rises out slowly showing she is really obese.

…I have no clue where to find these things, and I'm guessing other people have vague recollections of vids/comics but forgot the names of models/ sites/ works people did.
I know this sounds like a weird or redundant complaint, but has amybody noticed the absences of the old boards

While i like to read through the literature on the old boards, even some of the pictures and threads were pretty sweet, yet now all the old boards are down.

Any way to get them back up, or they lost to the sands of time?
(237.23 KB 900x900 sands-of-time-marian-voicu.jpg)
>>182
Some archive sites like the waybackmachine may be able to get you some of the content, but unfortunately, unless someone scraped the site before it went offline permanently, they are indeed lost to the sands of time.>>182

Can users delete their own posts? I fucked up formatting for a post, thought I deleted it because even though it said I'm not allowed to delete posts the post vanished, made a replacement post, and now I've doubleposted on /bbwdraw/.
>>379
Normally you can if you catch it quick enough. Deleted it for you.
Please open a preview when a spoiler is clicked. And only then open the big image, if it's clicked again.
Most spoilers hold boring crap worthing no wait until the HD image is loaded (just to see it was a boring crap again).
How much server space we have? Is it possible to allow .zip upload, not single images? (Of course, those .zip must contain allowed file types only).
